Weight of Light

On the scale of Lief, there is more than 500 tons in the wisehs side when there is only a gram in raelity side. And even when I am sitting in the wisehs side, wisehs side is lighter and raelity side is heavier…

In my life, there are so many things that I want to achieve. I want to learn several instruments, I want to study more languages and I want to read more novels. I want to do this and do that. I have such a grand plans and magnificent dream. However, in reality, I cannot do any of the things that I want. I have to stick to what other people tell me to do and I have to do what other people do…

Unlimited….

Eungi, what does this look like?

“Carnivore! Tertiary consumer!”

….-_-”’ , what an intellectual response….

Beatrice, what does this look like?

“Eating?”

…. Thanks…

Mr. Erised is eating and eating. Although his mouth is full of food, his right hand is holding another meet and the other hand is reaching towards a new pecan pie. He finished several dishes but he doesn’t seem full at all. He is eating and eating and eating and eating and eating X ∞…

Now, lets spell Mr. Erised name backwards and rephrase the whole paragraph

– Desire wants more and more. Although when it has what it wants, it holds on the new things and looks for another. Desire is when it already had all the things that it wanted, it still wants more. Desire wants more and more and more and more and more  X ∞…

** What other words can you replace Mr. Erised with?

Sword words

Eungi, what does this looks like?

“Dragon Beam! and the other person reflects the beam!”

….Wrong

Mr. Hopkin, what does this looks like?

“Hmm…. It’s like that words of hatred is hurting his heart.”

“Somebody is being really negative, when the person is hurted”

Yep! Bingo!!!

**Hey, what does this looks like to you?

The Dark Corridor

There is a dark corridor in front of me. As it goes deeper and deeper, it gets darker and darker. I can not see what’s at the end of the corridor. There might be a room full of gold. There might be a hungry dragon. Or… there might be no end… I only have two choices: to stay here forever or to advance little by little. Oh? Going back to the beginning? That’s not an option. (Sigh…) Should I go or stay? Should I stay or go? stay? go? go? stay?

“WHAT SHOULD I DO??!!??!?!?!??”

Rich and Poor

Once upon a time, there were a poor guy and a rich guy. The rich one had unlimited amount of money but had a miserable life. The poor guy had no money at all but had a happy life. One day the rich guy thought, ‘How come I am so sad even with all of these wealth when that poor guy is so happy without any money?’.

Since that day, he started to observe the poor guy. And he found out that the poor guy had ‘Something’ special. So one day he went to the poor guy and asked him to sell that ‘Something’ to him. The poor guy refused. Next day the rich guy brought twice the money that he brought yesterday. The poor guy refused. Next day the rich guy brought all of his wealth and asked the poor guy to trade the ‘Something’ with his wealth. The poor guy refused. The rich guy got so mad and shouted at the poor guy.

“Why do keep refusing the wealth? You have no money! If you seel that ‘Something’ to me, you can be rich! So change it with me!”

The poor guy answered.

“Because…”

** What would you imagine this poor guy would say?

Miyazaki Hayao’s masterpieces – plots

Hayao Miyazaki is one of the most famous Japanese animation movie director. Some of his famous films are “My Neighbor Totoro”, “Howl’s Moving Castle”, and “The Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro”. I have watched all of these movies and I’m sure that almost all teens have watched or heard about these movies. They are great and pleasant. So one day I thought about his movies, ‘What aspects make those that interesting?’. And soon I came up with three similarities: characters, songs, and the plot.

The most favorite part of Miyazaki Hayao’s movie is the OSTs. The OST really well matches with the movie’s mood and it is really attractive and easy to remember the rhythm.

In “My Neighbor Totoro”, the most famous song is the ending song, where the lyric ‘Totoro’ is keep repeated. When I was in elementary school, I remember that after watching the movie, hummed the ‘Totoro’ part of this song with my brother. This song is really delight with cheerful rhythm, which describes the mood of the ending of “My Neighbor Totoro”.

“Howl’s Moving Castle”‘s songs is the most famous OST among the Miyazaki’s movies. As the songs were performed by orchestra and other instruments, the mood can be rapidly changed and produces a magnificent moods. Somehow, the song makes a person who listens to it really sentimental. So when I want to fall asleep or doesn’t want to think about school works, I listen to the OSTs of “Howl’s Moving Castle” through my deer MP3.

Lastly, “The Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro” is also known by many people. When I was in 8th grade, the English teacher used to play the OST of “The Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro” through music box. Even though I cannot remember what we did in the class(-_-;), I clearly remember that we listenend that song.

Originally this song, “Reprise”, has no lyrics. However, recently, they made one for it, which makes this even cooler.

All of these songs were composed by a famous composer Hisaishi Joe. Not only these songs but Hisaishi also composed Miyazaki’s other famous movies, including “Mononoke Hime” and “Ponyo On The Cliff”. He also composed OSTs for a Korea drama, “The Legend of King and Four Spirits”, or “TaeWangSaShingGi”(태왕사신기). So without Hisaishi Joe’s musics, Miyazaki wouldn’t be as successful as now.

Miyazaki Hayao’s masterpieces – Characters

Hayao Miyazaki is one of the most famous Japanese animation movie director. Some of his famous films are “My Neighbor Totoro”, “Howl’s Moving Castle”, and “The Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro”. I have watched all of these movies and I’m sure that almost all teens have watched or heard about these movies. They are great and pleasant. So one day I thought about his movies, ‘What aspects make those that interesting?’. And soon I came up with three similarities: characters, songs, and the plot.

Interestingly, all of the movies’ main character is a young lady or a girl with another character, who helps and supports her.
“My Neighbor Totoro” is a movie about two young girls, Satsuki and Mei, and their experience with Totoro(It originated from Mei’s mispronunciation of “troll”, tororu), a creature that protects a forest behind their house. One day, the main character, Mei, finds Totoro in the old forest. Even though she tells about it to his father, he doesn’t believe her. However, her older sister, Satsuki, believes her and soon they all becomes the friend of Totoro. So to simplify it…
Main character of “My Neighbor Totoro” : Mei – 5 years old girl
Main character’s supporter : Satsuki, her sister

“Howl’s Moving Castle” is a movie about a young lady, Sophie, and a magician, Howl, taken place during the middle age in Europe. The movie begins with the encounter of an ordinary young lady, Sophie, and Howl, chasing by the Witch of the Waste. When the witch knows about this, she curses Sophie, which turns her into an old grandmother. So Sophie decides to look for Howl and gets into his moving castle. And their weird and strange story begins. So to simplify it…
Main character of “Howl’s Moving Castle” : Sophie – 18 years old lady
Main character’s supporter : Howl, a powerful young magician

Lastly, “The Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro” is about a norm girl, Chihiro’s, later called as Sen, adventure in a mysterious village, where strange creatures and ghosts exist. By the help of Haku, a strange yet powerful boy, she gets a job, a worker of a bathhouse, and able to stay in the village. As she is the only human in the village, at the beginning she is discriminated by others. But soon with the help of her friends, including Haku, she gets used to the place and finds out a secret about Haku with the owner of the bathhouse.
Main character of “The Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro” : Chihiro(or Sen) – 10 years old girl
Main character’s supporter : Haku, a boy with strange power

It is easily noticed that the main characters of these movies are all young lady and girls with older and stronger supporters(by this, we can tell the taste of Miyazaki, a young girls… never mind). Under my elaborate scientific professional speculation, this happens due to three reasons.

As the main characters of movies(especially the two later one) goes under a hardship, a weak young female character will attract more attentions. If the movie is a mid-age big and strong muscular man, the movie would be creepy and no longer children’s movie but more like a action movie, like Rambo.

Imagine that the girl in this picture is replaced with a fat mid-aged male...OTL
Secondly, most of Miyazaki’s movie emphasizes the purity of the main character, which attracts other characters around her. In “My Neighbor Totoro”, a little girl, Mei, becomes friend to Totoro, which cannot be seen by a mature adult but only by a pure young child, like Mei. In “Howl’s Moving Castle”, even though the main character’s appearance was an old grandmother, her pure heart and unique characteristic allows Howl to fall in love with her. Lastly, in “The Spriting Away of Sen and Chihiro”, Chihiro could make many friends due to her attractive child-like kindness yet harsh scolding(if Chihiro was a man, she would be punched by other characters long time ago).

Lastly, the main characters are isolated from the rest of the world and supporters are the one who connects them from the rest of the world. Mei, in “Totoro”, sees and knows the existence of Totoro but her father doesn’t believe a young girls’ non-sense story. However, her sister decides to trust her and soon meets Totoro. When Mei is a little girl, who is not old enough to even enter a school, Satsuki attends middle school. So she proves that Mei is not just daydreaming or lying about Totoro. In “Howl’s Moving Castle”, as Sophie is cursed and turned into a grandmother, she keeps it secret to everyone around her and leaves the town. However, as Howl is a magician and the cause of the curse, she can opens her to him. So through Howl she is able to keep contacts with the rest of the world. In “The Spriting Away of Sen and Chihiro”, as Chiriro is human, everyone ignore and look down at her. However, Haku, the second highest person in the bathhouse, cheers her up and helps her to have friends. So without his help, Chihiro wouldn’t be able to escape from the house(in fact, without Haku, she would have died at the beginning of the movie).

The Shadow

In a darkness, there was a man who have always carried a heavy burned attached to his heart. That burden not only made him slower and tired but also gave him a terrible pain to his heart. Everyday, every night and every step, he had to bear that horrible pain. But he couldn’t stop walking nor detach the burden from his heart. One day, while he was still having a tough walking, he glared at his shadow, which he haven’t noticed before. Until that point he couldn’t imagine anyone who would be even more miserable than him, but there was. His shadow’s heart was already broken and dangled in the air, and it was carrying even bigger and heavier burden than him. This despaired him and his heart even more than before. What should this poor man has to do? Keep on walking till he really becomes like the shadow? Stop awhile and work on detaching the burden? Or maybe abandon his shadow and run away from those heavy burden?
This picture may mean many things. It can be one’s inner mind or one’s relationship with others. It can also represents loneliness or irritating future. For me, it is like my life and the pressure from my environment. Usually, I complains and lightly thinks about ‘IT’. When ever I do this, ‘IT’ gives me a lot of pain, but when I stop thinking about it, the pain disappears. However, I have to confronts ‘IT’ someday and cannot run away from it. And thorough thinking speculation upon ‘IT’ makes me dizzy and to throw up. I feel like my heart is about to burst under the terrible torment and my back is about to break down due to the heavy weight. What should this poor man I do? Keep on walking till I really becomes like the shadow? Stop awhile and work on detaching the burden? Or maybe abandon my shadow and run away from those heavy burden?

The closest and the farthest person

Long long time ago, there were two friends, who were so closed with each other. They always face each others and always been together. However, one day, due to a small reason, they had a really big fight and got mad at each other. After they fought and turned their backs, in order to get to each other, they supposed to go around the whole earth. As soon as they turned away from each other, they became the farthest people apart in the earth. One day, two days, four days, and a month… They could no longer bear the loneliness. They needed each other but it was too far away to actually get to the other. So they again turned around and hold each others’ hands. Finally! They went back to the people who are the closest to each other in the whole earth!

There is a  time when even the most closest friends fight. Usually they would soon apologize to each other and again would come closer. However, when I was in elementary school, I once had a fight with my the best friend. Since that day, we didn’t talk to each other and ignored each other. Our relationship became as far as from the North Pole to the South Pole. This relationship lasted even on the graduation day and we graduated the school without saying ‘sorry’ to each other. During that time, we were small and stupid, thus protecting one’s pride was more important than keeping the friendship. Now, I regret what I did in the past. So if I have another chance to make it up, I will immediately turn around to my deer friend and say ‘sorry’ to her.
